Duet

Duet Privacy Policy

Duet is a private SMS assistant for one household. This page says what it collects, what it does with that, and who else ever sees it.

What Duet is

Duet is a private, invite-only SMS assistant used by a single household. Today that household is the operator and his partner. There is no public sign-up and no waitlist. Texting the number does not enroll anyone.

The operator is Joe Cohen. You can reach him at jsc6121@gmail.com.

How people opt in

Enrollment takes two steps, and both are required:

  • ·The operator adds the person and their mobile number to the service configuration by hand.
  • ·That person texts the assistant from their own phone.

Duet never sends a message to a number that has not been added by the operator. There is no purchased list, no imported contacts, and no way for a stranger to be enrolled.

Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Reply HELP for help.

What messages you get

Enrolled members text the assistant notes, ideas, recipes, activities, and events they want saved. The assistant replies with a confirmation or an answer. Once a week it sends one summary message.

Message frequency is low and conversational. Duet replies when you text it, plus at most one scheduled weekly summary. It sends no marketing, no promotions, and no advertising.

What Duet collects

  • ·The mobile phone numbers of enrolled household members.
  • ·The content of the messages those members send, such as notes, ideas, recipes, activities, and events.

Duet stores this to run the service. It collects nothing about anyone outside the household, and it buys no data from anyone.

How the data is used

Duet uses phone numbers and message content for one purpose: to operate the assistant for enrolled members. That means saving what they send, answering them, and writing the weekly summary.

Duet does not use this data for advertising or marketing. Duet does not sell or rent phone numbers or message content to anyone.

Mobile information is never shared for marketing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

That covers every phone number enrolled in Duet and every record of consent to receive messages. None of it leaves the service for marketing use, under any circumstance.

Service providers

Duet runs on a few outside services that have to handle messages to deliver them:

  • ·A messaging carrier, which sends and receives the text messages.
  • ·A cloud hosting provider, which runs the software and stores the data.
  • ·An AI model provider, which generates the replies the assistant sends back.

Each of these processes message content solely to deliver the service. None of them is permitted to use it for marketing or promotional purposes, and none of them receives opt-in or consent data for their own use.

How long the data is kept

Phone numbers and saved messages stay stored while the household uses Duet. If Duet shuts down, the operator deletes the stored numbers and messages.

Any enrolled member can ask for their number and their messages to be deleted at any time. Email jsc6121@gmail.com and the operator will delete them. Replying STOP stops the messages; ask by email if you also want the stored data removed.

Access

The service runs on standard hosted infrastructure, and only the operator has administrative access to it. Duet is a small personal tool for one household, so treat it accordingly and keep sensitive information out of it.

Children

Duet is for the adults enrolled by the operator. It is not intended for children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

The operator may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
